Once again organizations in Prince George’s County and the metropolitan area will be joining together to celebrate the cultural contributions of African Americas during the period between the 1920s and 1940s, known as the Harlem Renaissance Era. This year the collaborative members have chosen the theme “Our History and Experiences”.

In its 13th year, the Harlem Renaissance Festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 5, 2012 on the beautiful grounds of the Kentland/Columbia Park Community Center in Landover, located at the intersection of Landover Rd (202) and Pinebrook Avenue. The entire Washington/Baltimore region is invited to celebrate the rich and diverse culture which African Americans have contributed to American life. This festival is a day full of music, dance, food, literature, poetry, art and many other activities for the entire family. This year, our theme is “Our History and Experiences…What Have We Learned?”

If you are interested in participating as an vendor/exhibitor, please submit a color photograph of some of your arts, crafts, apparel, or food for our review (if applicable). ** WE HAVE NOT RAISED OUR PRICES IN 13 YEARS! ** Exhibitor booths for the festival are $100 each for non-food vendors and $350.00 each for food vendors in advance. All food vendors are required to obtain an outdoor food vendor license from the Health Department prior to the event. If you have any questions, please contact the Health Department at 301-883-7853. We look forward to having you join us for this spectacular event! Should you have any questions or concerns, you can send them via e-mail to Sylvia Flegler, Festival Project Assistant hrf@cammaygroup.com.

Last year’s Harlem Renaissance Festival attracted over 15,000 people. Your participation in this year’s event will give consumers an opportunity to review your goods and services, and give you the opportunity to increase your customer base. If your market is primarily centered on cultural or vintage apparel, arts and crafts, and antiques of the 1920s and 1940s, or if it is targeted around the Prince George’s County area, then the Harlem Renaissance Festival 2012 is where you want to be!

Prince George’s County enjoys a high level of cultural diversity and has the highest per capita income of all African Americans nationwide.
